About the Role

Then our Director of Philanthropy role might be perfect for you. We’re looking for a smart, strategic professional to help us fulfill our mission of for good, forever. The Community Foundation helps generous people give back to the Sioux Falls area.
In this role, you will work in partnership with our development team to serve two audiences: donors – people who give through the Foundation, and financial advisors – experts in the field who guide their clients to give through us.

Starting wage for this full-time, exempt position is $90,000. This is an on-site, in-person position. This position reports to the Chief Philanthropy Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
Engagement
- Work with professional advisors (attorneys, CPAs, financial planners) and help build new relationships.
- Support a portfolio of donors and help them update their charitable estate plans and understand the local nonprofit landscape and opportunities to give.
- Develop and evaluate engagement strategies with a focus on relationship-building.
- Help plan and lead educational initiatives for professional advisors.
- Help plan and lead strategic events to deepen our connection to our fundholders, professional advisors and the community.
Philanthropy
- Work closely with donors in a variety of settings.
- Help structure and manage complex gifts, including non-cash assets such as real estate, closely held business interests and others.
- Simplify and clarify complex and technical concepts for donors and finance experts.
- Stay current on estate planning practices and philanthropy.
- Work closely with community investment and development team to stay up to date on local nonprofit landscape.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years in major gift fundraising, planned giving, wealth management or a related field.
- A sense of curiosity and purpose, with a focus on building relationships.
- A team player who also can work independently and is confident making decisions.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with a growth mindset and a genuine interest in continuous learning and professional development.
