The Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation has announced its latest round of Community Fund grants, totaling more than $100,000 in support for local nonprofits and causes throughout the area.

The Community Fund Endowment and other unrestricted funds are part of the competitive grantmaking program. Grants in this round include funding to keep people in their homes, teach children chess, provide specialized care and respite services to children and young adults with disabilities and support peer-to-peer services through the state prison. 

"We are excited to fund a variety of programs and services in this round of funding," said Patrick Gale, vice president of community investment for the Community Foundation. "Our local nonprofits continue to show up in Sioux Falls and do important work that serves our community. We are grateful for the work they do.”

Grants were awarded to the following organizations in the second quarter of 2026:

• Affordable Housing Solutions is the nonprofit arm of the Sioux Falls Housing and Redevelopment Commission. The grant will support the Family Self Sufficiency Program that helps people with financial literacy, budgeting, job training, and other skills to remain housed. 
• The Community Outreach works to prevent homelessness in the Sioux Empire through coordinated, community-driven action. The grant will support the Crisis Care Program, which provides emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities and transportation, along with support services that help families build a path toward long-term financial stability.
• The Laura B. Anderson Elementary School Chess Club teaches chess to interested students as another way to close the opportunity gap for students with high needs. The grant will support the curriculum cost and additional expenses of the LBA Chess Club.
• St. Dysmas of South Dakota works to support inmates of the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls and Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield, SD. The grant will support the Good Homie Project, a space for peer-to-peer support that bridges the gap between incarceration and community.
• Uniquely Yours aims to address the critical shortage of specialized care and respite services for children and young adults with disabilities. The grant will provide strategic services to this organization as they plan fundraising efforts for a new facility and staff training.
