Community Foundation awards more than $105,000 in grants

The Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation has announced its latest round of Community Fund grants totaling more than $105,000 in support for local nonprofits and causes throughout our area.
“We are proud to help support these organizations doing important work in Sioux Falls,” said Patrick Gale, vice president for community investment. “Local nonprofits provide so many needed services to our community.”
The Alzheimer’s Association provides free care, support and resources to individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias in South Dakota.
The Community Foundation grant will support the Alzheimer’s Association Support Packets sent to South Dakota families upon diagnosis.
The Compass Center serves survivors of sexual, relational and family trauma in the Sioux Falls area.
The Community Foundation grant will support the efforts to align administrative operations following the formal merger of local nonprofits The Compass Center, Move to Heal and Family Service, Inc.
Emily’s Hope works to eliminate the stigma of substance use disorder through awareness, education, prevention and by removing financial barriers to treatment and recovery.
The Community Foundation grant will support the Community Outreach Coordinator position, which will serve as the on-the-ground presence of Emily’s Hope at local events.
Friends of SDPB supports South Dakota Public Broadcasting’s mission to inspire, connect and entertain all South Dakotans through trusted journalism, quality education and storytelling.
The Community Foundation grant will support the continued operation of SDPB.
The Rural Philanthropy Institute works to offer a greater understanding of how to build healthy rural areas and believes that the nonprofit sector plays a large role in sustaining South Dakota communities.
The Community Foundation grant will support the South Dakota Nonprofit Capacity Building Program, a four-session fundraising training program for nonprofit leadership in South Dakota.
SHIFT Garage helps individuals and families in Sioux Falls overcome transportation insecurity by providing free volunteer labor for essential car repairs.
The Community Foundation grant will support the full-time Office Administrator position, which will assist in the work of SHIFT Garage.
South Dakota Voices for Peace supports immigrant, refugee, and Muslim communities through legal services and education.
The Community Foundation grant will support the certification of this organization’s bilingual Community Health Worker.
Untitled.10 connects local artists and creates opportunities to highlight their work through art exhibitions.
The Community Foundation grant will support the photography art show, “The Same Coin.”
