We’re proud to award more than 150 scholarships to deserving students each year. Whether you’re preparing to graduate from high school, wrapping up a general equivalency diploma, or working toward your undergraduate or graduate degree, the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation is proud to partner with passionate donors to administer a wide variety of competitive scholarships to help you achieve your educational goals.

Gordon Ingwersen Scholarship Graduating high school seniors from Doland High School are eligible for this award. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational or technical school; demonstrate financial need; have a GPA of 2.0 or higher; and demonstrate the desire, motivation, and ability to succeed in his/her chosen field. $1,500 March 15 Apply
Gordon Ingwersen School of Mines & Technology Scholarship This scholarship benefits seniors graduating from Sioux Falls public or private high schools who plan to pursue higher education at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City. Applicants must plan to study engineering and pursue a career in the engineering field. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need and academic achievement. $2,000 March 30 Apply
Harrison-Joslyn Memorial Scholarship Graduating seniors who have attended Canton Public High School for a minimum of two academic years are eligible for this award. Further criteria include attendance at an accredited post-secondary educational institution in South Dakota and involvement in school, community, and church activities. $2,250 March 15 Apply
Harry Lee Scholarship Awarded to an Alcester senior based on financial need and interest in pharmacy, medicine, nursing, laboratory science, chemistry, physics, or other sciences. $500 March 15 Apply
Herman and LaVerne Griller Scholarship Applicants must be graduating seniors of an accredited high school in Minnehaha, Lincoln, Turner, or McCook County who plan to attend an accredited college or university and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need. $4,500 March 15 Apply
Hopps Dow Scholarship This scholarship benefits graduating seniors of Groton High School who plan to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational school in South Dakota. To be eligible, applicants must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher, demonstrate financial need, and have the desire and ability to succeed in their chosen field of study. $3,000 April 11 Apply
Hovik Family Scholarship To be eligible for this award, applicants must be graduating high school seniors who live in Lincoln County, South Dakota, and are members of the Lutheran faith with plans to attend accredited four-year colleges or universities that are affiliated with the Lutheran church. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need and have the ability to achieve academic success. $1,000 March 15 Apply
Hovland Scholarship This scholarship is open to students who will be entering their junior year in the fall. Students must be enrolled at an accredited college or university and of Norwegian descent, with preference given to applicants from the Bomlo Community of Norway. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better on a 4.0 scale. $2,500 March 15 Apply
Independent Insurance Agents of Sioux Falls Scholarship Successful applicants for this award must be graduating seniors of Sioux Falls public or private high schools who plan to attend a South Dakota college, university, or vocational or technical school. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need, which is the key factor in selecting a winner for this award. Additional criteria includes a GPA of 3.0 or higher and an ability to succeed in a chosen field of study. $1,000 March 15 Apply
James and Bernice Kopperud Scholarship This award benefits graduating seniors of Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls who plan to attend a four-year accredited college or university. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, demonstrate financial need, and have the desire and ability to succeed in his or her chosen field of study. $5,000 March 15 Apply
