Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation awards more than $72,000 in grants to local nonprofits

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota - The Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation has announced its latest round of Community Fund grants, totaling more than $72,000 in support for local nonprofits and causes throughout the area.
In fiscal year 2026, the Community Foundation has awarded more than $750,000 through the Community Fund Endowment and other unrestricted funds as part of our competitive grantmaking program.
"So many local nonprofits are doing excellent work, and we're excited to help fund them," said Patrick Gale, vice president of community investment for the Community Foundation. "Our donors trust us and our grants committee to support vital services that serve our community."
The next cycle for Community Fund grants closes on June 1.
Grants were awarded to the following organizations in the second quarter of 2026:
Augustana University’s Research Institute provides cross-sector measurement and analysis for communities.
The Community Fund grant will support the development of the Sioux Falls Community Scorecard.
The Center for Disabilities, housed within the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota in Sioux Falls, partners with organizations in South Dakota to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families.
The Community Fund grant will support the Blue Envelope Project, providing tools for individuals with cognitive, behavioral or sensory challenges to signal law enforcement during emergencies and routine interactions. This grant will also provide outreach and training materials to local organizations, health providers and law enforcement.
Downtown Sioux Falls works to drive foot traffic to Downtown through activation, advocacy, marketing and stewardship to fuel the city’s growth.
The Community Fund grant will support the launch of the Downtown Vitality Benchmark Initiative, which will provide a standardized, nationally benchmarked measurement of Downtown performance and establish a baseline that Sioux Falls can track over time.
Foster 605 works to empower communities to embrace a supportive environment for children in foster care and provide care and support to families in crisis.
The Community Fund grant will support the launch of CarePortal in South Dakota, a real-time platform that connects child-serving professionals with community partners to meet the needs of children and families involved in the foster care system.
Levitt at the Falls is a nonprofit outdoor music venue in Sioux Falls that is dedicated to building community through the power of free, live music.
The Community Fund grant will support the All My Relatives Festival in fall 2026, an event celebrating Native American cultures in the Sioux Falls region. This year, this event is a collaboration with South Dakota State University’s Wokini Initiative and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage as part of the national “Of the People: Festival of Festivals” to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.
Teen Lead Foundation works to empower young people through education, environmental stewardship, leadership development and community engagement.
The Community Fund grant will support the coordination of this organization’s environmental sustainability education, youth mentorship and other programming.
