Community Foundation awards $255,000 in grants

The Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation has announced its latest round of Community Fund grants totaling more than $255,000 in support for local nonprofits and causes throughout our area.

Bread Break is a food-recovery nonprofit organization that works with businesses to collect unused, perfectly good, prepared food and distributes it to agencies which feed those in need.

The Community Foundation grant will support CRM implementation, a food recovery application, cold storage, equipment for food transport and packaging, and basic administrative and fuel expenses.

Call to Freedom is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support and advocacy for survivors of human trafficking, offering services such as outreach, housing and community education to promote healing and prevention.

The Community Foundation grant will support the installation of a security and surveillance system at the new Call to Freedom office.

Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc. (DTSF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing and promoting the vibrancy of downtown Sioux Falls.

The Community Foundation grant will support an external evaluation of the DTSF Ambassador Program, providing strategic recommendations to enhance the program’s impact.

Face It TOGETHER is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming how addiction wellness is approached by providing dignity-affirming, evidence-based peer-coaching services.

The Community Foundation grant will support Face It TOGETHER’s operations.

Service Leadership Academy is a nonprofit organization that provides 140 high school seniors and 20 area college students with an intensive 48-hour experience focused on growing leadership skills and servant hearts.

The Community Foundation grant will support the two Service Leadership Academies held at Augustana University in summer of 2025.

The Toy Lending Library of South Dakota is a nonprofit organization that creates opportunities for children ages 0 to 5 to enhance their learning development through play by distributing world-class toy boxes with toys and books to enhance developmental skills.

The Community Foundation grant will support toy boxes built to prepare students for kindergarten in the fall of 2025.

The Community Outreach is a nonprofit organization that provides case management, financial crisis counseling, rent or deposit assistance, utility assistance and/or car repair assistance in Minnehaha, Lincoln, Turner and McCook counties.

The Community Foundation grant will support case management and financial counseling to 119 more working families while also providing rent, deposit or utility assistance to 50 working families.

The Helpline Center is a nonprofit organization that connects individuals to essential community resources, including food, housing, mental health services and volunteer opportunities.

The Community Foundation grant will support the Helpline Center Network of Care, a collaborative initiative that brings together various nonprofit organizations under a unified system of streamlined referrals to share data and provide comprehensive support to the community.

Sioux Falls School District Middle School Community Learning Centers (CLC) program is designed to provide enriching and developmentally appropriate after-school and summer opportunities for middle school students. The goal is to foster academic achievement, positive youth development, and community connection through structured, tiered supports.

The Community Foundation grant will give hundreds of students from multiple middle schools access to safe, nurturing and fun after-school care.
