A Foundation for the Community

We bring people together.

Donors. Nonprofits. Community leaders.

All are welcome here at our historic Illinois Central Depot in downtown Sioux Falls.

We turned 40 last year – and any big birthday milestone makes you think about what you stand for, what you want to be known for and how you can make it happen.

Every day, we have opportunities to help people connect to one another and to projects and organizations they care about. We see our nonprofits strive to make this community better from arts to recreation to social services.

Our generous donors continue to delight and surprise us by funding lasting change in ways large and small, showing the depth of their passion for Sioux Falls.

We’re building on that momentum.

That includes being able to offer a larger space where people can gather to problem-solve together. To celebrate. To talk with one another. Where we can unite in our unwavering dedication to Sioux Falls and our commitment to making this community the best it can be.

Last year, we embarked on an expansion of our historic depot – built in 1887 for the Illinois Central railroad, one of the first few to come to Sioux Falls, connecting us to Chicago. We moved here in 2013.

We added space for our growing staff – giving a little more privacy with some remodeled office space. We also moved our entrance to the north end of the building – and created a beautiful entryway to welcome guests.

But the biggest thing you might notice is a large meeting space added to the east side of the building. It’s our hope that people will think of us when they need a place to meet – and we will be able to bring groups together in this space.

We take our commitment to the community seriously – and we hope you’ll come visit.

We can’t wait to see you.
