Duane Odland Scholarship This scholarship benefits children of a Midwest Coast Transport employee, independent contractor, or driver for an MCT contractor. Employees must be employed with MCT for more than one year. Students who apply for this award must have completed one year at an accredited college, university, or technical or vocational school and maintained a “C” average or higher. Applicants must also have the desire and ability to succeed in their chosen field of study. Award: $1,000; Deadline: July 1
Edmison Non-Traditional Student Scholarship The Waneta Drake Miller Edmison Non-Traditional Student Scholarship is available to students 24 years of age or older who are residents of Minnehaha, Lincoln, Turner, or McCook counties of South Dakota. Applicants must have successfully completed a minimum of six credit hours in a course of study in a degree-granting program and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours per academic term at an accredited educational institution. Award: $1,000; Deadline: March 15
Helen M. Anderson Scholarship The Helen M. Anderson Scholarship is given to the recipient of the Spirit of Sioux Falls Scholarship and Award in years when the recipient is both a graduate from a Sioux Falls, SD, accredited public or private high school and is enrolled in the Beacom School of Business at the University of South Dakota.
Helmer A. Hovik USD Scholarship This annual award goes to a student majoring in chemistry at the University of South Dakota. Interested students should visit the USD Financial Aid Office for criteria and application information.
Hovland Scholarship This scholarship is open to students who will be entering their junior year in the fall of 2013. Students must be enrolled at an accredited college or university and of Norwegian descent, with preference given to applicants from the Bomlo Community of Norway. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better on a 4.0 scale. Award: $1,000; Deadline: July 15
Jack and Ila Hunt Scholarship Recipients must be juniors or seniors majoring in education and be graduates of a Sioux Falls public high school. Recipients must also demonstrate financial need, be active in school and community affairs, and have a GPA of 2.75 or better. This award rotates annually between the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, and Augustana College, Sioux Falls. To determine if the award is available, check with your financial aid office.
James B. and Vera A. Sadler Undergraduate Scholarship This scholarship benefits graduates of Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD, who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in education at an accredited four-year college or university. Eligible applicants must have completed enough credit hours to be classified as an incoming junior or senior, and must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better in their major and overall. Award: $5,000; Deadline: March 15
Jim and Pat Croston Family Scholarship Applicants must be graduates of a Sioux Falls, SD, high school majoring in education and enrolled as full-time students entering their junior or senior year at an accredited, four-year academic college or university in South Dakota. Preference will be given to those who are pursuing degrees in elementary or secondary education or who plan to work in a middle school setting. Award: $1,000; Deadline: March 15
John "Jack" and Michael Carmody Scholarship This award is available to juniors and seniors majoring in business at the University of South Dakota. Recipients must be graduates of a Sioux Falls public high school, must demonstrate financial need, have a GPA of 3.0 or better, and be active in school or community affairs. Contact the University of South Dakota Foundation for more information.
Norma Rahm Scholarship Applicants must be entering their sophomore year at Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD. Applicants must have earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher and must demonstrate a high capacity for providing patient, caring, and quality nursing service. Applicants will be considered for award during the spring semester of their freshman year, with the specific date to be determined each year by Presentation College. Interested students should contact the Financial Aid office.
P & M Steel-Profilet Family Engineering Scholarship This award benefits sophomore, junior, or senior engineering students at South Dakota State University who graduated from an accredited South Dakota high school and are residents of South Dakota. Additional criteria includes financial need, a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and participation in extra-curricular and community activities during high school and college. Interested students should contact the College of Engineering at South Dakota State University.
Reverend Howard M. Blegen Scholarship Applicants must be enrolled as juniors or seniors at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Applicants must be Lutherans with intentions of pursuing a post-college course of study at a theological seminary and have maintained a 3.0 college GPA. Interested students should contact the financial aid office.
Robert and Dr. Judy Nissen Scholarship To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be 24 years of age or older and pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree at University Center with a minimum class load of six credit hours per term. Applicants must also have completed at least one semester at University Center. A minimum 3.0 GPA and financial need are also criteria for this award. Award: $500; Deadline: April 15
Robert and Jeanne Enderson Family Endowment Applicants for this scholarship must be graduates of a South Dakota high school who are enrolled full-time and are entering their junior or senior year in a baccalaureate-granting degree program in math or science. This award rotates between the following institutions, with each receiving a scholarship once every four years: South Dakota State University, Augustana College, University of Minnesota, and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Interested students should check with their financial aid office in the fall to determine if the award is available.
Sioux Falls Area Retired Teachers Scholarship This award benefits students majoring in education at an accredited South Dakota college or university who will be entering their junior or senior year. Eligible applicants must demonstrate financial need, have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, have participated in school and community affairs, and demonstrate motivation and commitment to the teaching profession. Award: $1,250; Deadline: March 15
South Dakota Chapter of ASHRAE Scholarship Provides an annual scholarship for members of South Dakota ASHRAE student chapters who are pursuing an Associate in Applied Science degree at Mitchell Technical Institute in Mitchell, South Dakota. Interested students should contact the financial aid office.
Southeastern District Dental Society Benevolent Scholarship This award is open to students who are pursuing a degree in dental hygiene at the University of South Dakota. Winners must also demonstrate financial need. Award: $2,000; Deadline: February 15
Spirit of Sioux Falls Scholarship and Award Applicants for this award must live in or maintain residency in Lincoln or Minnehaha County of South Dakota — even though they may attend a school outside the area — or they must attend school in one of these two counties. Applicants must also attend a school accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in business and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of business in American society. A motivation and ability to succeed, academic excellence, and community involvement are also criteria for this award. Award: $2,500; Deadline: July 1
